We are more than delighted to hear from anyone with a County connection, either as a player or official, or their descendants. We also have some specific targets involving people or statistics we that will add to the publication. These include:-
The founders of the club - some the men involved in starting the football club that became Stockport County were still living in the area many years later. We'd like to contact the descendants of people such as Ashworth, Boardman, Booth, Clarke, John Hewitt, Holden, Ben Kelly, Tom Machin, Richardson, the Riley brothers (Sam and William), Ted Simpson, Thommason, Ernie Whitmore and Ted Whittle, to see if there are any family stories handed down from the early days.
Billy Bocking's Interviewer - shortly before his death Billy Bocking was interviewed by someone his family remember as a lecturer from a Manchester University. This person recorded some of his conversation with Billy and we would like to make contact with this person as would Billy's descendants.
Player photos - we hope to include a photo of as many of the players as possible. We have already traced many but if you have photos from the early days of Stockport County, or are relatives with photos of ex-County players during their football careers please get in touch.
Ground photos - we are also looking for old photos of past grounds, such as the one of the changing rooms at Nursery Inn that appeared in an edition of Stockport Advertiser.
Missing names - As can been seen on the player lists there are still
a number of players whose given names have not been traced. We have a list of these -
